Position Title: Systems Application Administrator

Job Description
The System Application Administrator (Technical) II, is distinguished from a Tech I by the scope of work which requires a broader range of knowledge of information technology, law enforcement systems and helpdesk processes. This position may require being responsible for the training and support of Level I Techs. A Tech II will be a SME (subject matter expert) in multiple different law enforcement systems used by the Ada County Sheriff’s Office.
Responsibilities:
- Responds to day-to-day ticket requests, troubleshoots and resolves basic system problems;
- Responsible for the management, configuration, support and troubleshooting of essential law enforcement systems assigned, coordinating with Ada County IT when needed;
- Collaborates with vendors to troubleshoot issues;
- Manages user accounts and user security;
- Prepare and maintain clear, concise, and accurate technical and program documentation via the use of knowledgebase articles (KBs), user procedures, reports of work performed, and other written materials;
- Follows change and configuration management procedures;
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with all agencies across Ada County and exercises good judgment in representing the Ada County Sheriff’s Office to external personnel and agencies;
- Performs reporting and data gathering as assigned, generating reports and spreadsheets;
- Provides training on the use of equipment, computer hardware and software applications;
- Handles calls for service (system issues and outages) during off?duty hours;
- Performs other technology?related duties as needed or directed;
Requirements:
- Any combination of training and experience that demonstrates possession and competency in the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities;
- Knowledge of Information Technology standards, trends, management, and security principles;
- Experience working with Public Safety, Security Surveillance Systems and related Law Enforcement Technology preferred;
- Experience working with Windows Server 2019, HTML, SQL Query, SSRS with monitoring tools;
- Basic understanding of Network Infrastructure and functionality;
- Experience with asset tracking and mobile device management (MDM)
- Ability to be the subject matter expert in supporting, maintaining, and administering Ada County Sheriff’s Office specialized systems;
- Excellent customer service skills;
- Ability to analyze difficult problems/situations and take an effective course of action;
- Display and execute logical and complex troubleshooting techniques;
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and present ideas logically and effectively;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terminology;
- Ability to interface with technical and non-technical staff at all levels of the organization;

- Ability to learn more complex principles, practices, techniques, and regulations pertaining to assigned duties.
- Basic understanding of Active Directory, the Client-Server Architecture, Application Servers, Database Servers, Interfaces, Networks, Connectivity, Failover, High Availability, and Disaster Recovery;
